‘Ridiculed for eating beef’: 16-year-old Tamil Nadu boy dies by suicide after harassment by classmates and teacher

A 16-year-old student, A. Akilan, allegedly died by suicide due to harassment for consuming beef at school. His mother reported that the harassment began after a teacher's inquiry about beef consumption. Akilan faced physical assaults and derogatory remarks from classmates, while complaints were ignored by the school authorities. The Peelamedu police registered a case against the teacher and headmaster for abetment of suicide.
