Gas stations may be hiding some of America's most overlooked affordable fast-food options

Some people may shy away from the idea of getting a meal at a gas station or convenience store — but doing so could be an easy, and surprisingly delicious, way to save money while on a road trip or during a daily commute.

Restaurant menu prices rose 0.3% in both July and August this year, and menu prices were 3.4% higher this August than in August 2025, the National Restaurant Association reported in September.
