US installs 220-ton underwater research habitat off Florida Keys designed to withstand Category 5 hurricanes

Situated about 4.5 miles off the coast of the Florida Keys, Vanguard is an innovative underwater habitat intended for scientific investigations. DEEP, the organization behind its installation, anticipates it will be functional by early 2027.
