Sports goods manufacturer and sports teacher Makarand Kale developed a lightweight bulletproof material using plant-based ingredients after an unusual experiment with chewed wheat gave him the idea. The material was tested for hardness, compression and impact resistance, with further strength testing conducted in Ahmedabad. Following satisfactory results, additional testing at DRDO was being discussed.
