Opposition protests electricity fee hike in Kashmir, Omar Abdullah calls it compulsion

Opposition parties in Kashmir protested the recent electricity tariff increase. The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission approved a 6.83 percent hike effective September first. The government stated the increase was a necessity and not a broken promise. They clarified the free electricity scheme remains unaffected by the tariff revision. Previous administrations also implemented substantial electricity rate adjustments.
