India’s Asian Games squad: No room for athletes outside selection criteria

India’s Sports Ministry has ruled out adding athletes who fail the announced Asian Games selection criteria, despite pressure from supporters and parents. The 492 member contingent for the 2026 Aichi Nagoya Asian Games includes 73 athletes from athletics. The ministry says only athletes with a realistic medal chance and those ranked among Asia’s top six will be selected.
