Violations in 'deep burial' of medical waste by 17 states, UTs: CPCB to NGT

The Central Pollution Control Board will act against states violating biomedical waste disposal rules. Many healthcare facilities across seventeen states and Union territories showed non-compliance. Violations included improper burial depth and operating without necessary state authorisation. CPCB has issued communications and will take further action if compliance is not achieved. A progress report on this matter is due before the next hearing date.
