Assam floods submerge Nazira tea estates, over 57,000 people affected
Unprecedented floods have severely impacted tea estates in Nazira Sub-Division, Sivasagar District. Incessant rainfall in Nagaland caused rivers to breach danger levels, submerging estates and infrastructure. Thousands of tea workers and their families sought refuge in elevated structures within the estates. The Indian Army launched Operation Jal Rahat to aid state rescue efforts in Upper Assam. The Assam government is coordinating relief and rehabilitation to restore normalcy.
