SAN JOSE — An inmate attacked two correctional deputies Sunday evening at Santa Clara County Main Jail with a knife, sending the deputies to the hospital with moderate injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said the man exited his cell in the 6B wing at 7:22 p.m. Sunday and assaulted the two deputies with a “jail-made knife,” kicking off the “shocking and unprovoked” attack. The ensuing physical struggle went to the ground, where the two deputies restrained the man with help from other deputies.
