India in talks to host Canada PM Carney as Republic Day chief guest, trade pact in focus

India is contemplating a visit by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney during the Republic Day celebrations in January. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Carney discussed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement during a phone call on Tuesday. The two leaders aim to finalize the CEPA and increase bilateral trade by 2030. The Canadian delegation, led by Minister Maninder Sidhu, is in India to explore trade opportunities.
