In July 2025, UNEP announced a $7.1 million grant-supported initiative for Madagascar that includes plans to restore 3,000 hectares of mangroves and coastal forests while benefiting vulnerable coastal communities. Aiden Gallagher's campaign is therefore part of a much wider story—one in which individual pledges, community restoration and international climate action can intersect to give damaged ecosystems a chance to recover.
