Canada applies to join UK-led military coalition

Canada has formally applied to join the UK-led Joint Expeditionary Force, seeking closer defence cooperation with European nations as Ottawa works to reduce its reliance on the United States. Prime Minister Mark Carney’s office said the move followed UK support, while Canada is also exploring defence industrial cooperation through the Global Combat Air Programme.
