Nepal PM thanks India for flood rescue help after minister seeks compensation, as reconstruction estimates reach billions of dollar

Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah has thanked India and China for their assistance after flash floods killed 1,127 people and left nearly 4,900 missing. As rescue operations continue, Nepal is also seeking international accountability over climate-related losses. Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal called for justice and compensation, while Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle estimated reconstruction could cost $4 billion to $5 billion.
