In 2006, ISS astronauts threw an old Russian spacesuit stuffed with clothes into orbit; SuitSat circled Earth twice before its radio signal became unexpectedly weak

Astronauts launched an old spacesuit, SuitSat-1, as a makeshift satellite in 2006. This creative experiment aimed to transmit messages and data using amateur radio frequencies. Ground controllers initially reported issues, but the suit transmitted for two weeks. SuitSat-1 successfully sent approximately 3,500 messages to Earth. The discarded suit eventually reentered the atmosphere and burned up.
