Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma pushes dairy expansion, targets stronger milk production and processing

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed measures to strengthen Assam’s dairy sector, including higher milk production, expanded Dairy Cooperative Societies, increased processing capacity and better procurement. Assam currently produces 33.53 lakh litres of milk daily, with 4.20 lakh litres of additional processing capacity coming up. The state also plans wider cooperative coverage and support for dairy farmers.
