The Living Bog Project began Ireland's largest raised bog restoration in 2016. This initiative aimed to recreate over 750 hectares of active raised bog habitat. Peat dams were installed to block drains and restore water flow to the bogs. Pioneer vegetation and species returned as restoration work progressed across 12 sites.
