Assam: Congress opens ticket race for Nagaon bypoll

The Congress party has opened applications for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election ticket. AIUDF President Badruddin Ajmal is now being considered for the Nagaon seat. The Congress had previously sought AIUDF support rather than a contest. Assam opposition leader alleged AIUDF faced pressure to field a candidate. Congress expressed confidence in retaining the Nagaon constituency.
