Rebecca Young was 12 when she designed a solar-powered heated blanket to help people experiencing homelessness stay warm without access to mains electricity. Her school idea later became a working prototype through Thales and Primary Engineer, with 150 blankets being supplied to six homelessness charities across Glasgow.
