Navy to induct second diving support vessel 'Nipun'

The Indian Navy will commission its second Diving Support Vessel, Nipun, on August 31, 2026. This specialized vessel will enhance the Navy's deep-sea diving and underwater support capabilities. Nipun, indigenously designed and built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited, was delivered on July 30, 2026. Its induction marks a significant step towards self-reliance in defense shipbuilding. The commissioning signifies the vessel's transition from construction to operational service.
