Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar favours 543 LS seats, women's quota within old cap

Karnataka's Chief Minister DK Shivakumar urged the Southern Zonal Council to retain the 1971 census for delimitation. He also requested maintaining the Lok Sabha's strength at 543 for the next twenty-five years. Shivakumar sought to accommodate women's quota within the existing strength without delay. Southern states contribute significantly to the national economy and tax revenues. He also sought greater fiscal fairness from the central government.
