SC rejects plea to replace hanging with less painful method for death penalty

The Supreme Court has dismissed a plea challenging hanging as the method of executing death sentences, while leaving the door open for future reconsideration based on compelling scientific evidence. A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta said the Centre could examine alternative execution methods scientifically.
