Register FIR in cases of missing persons immediately, irrespective of age or gender: SC

States wrongly assumed the order only covered children, which the court deemed mala fide. Non-compliance will lead to contempt notices against Chief Secretaries and Directors General of Police. The court emphasised immediate FIR registration for all missing persons without preliminary inquiry.
