Record-setting El Capitan rock climber dies at age 30 in Sierra Nevada accident
An accomplished rock climber who set a speed record on one of Yosemite's famed El Capitan routes recently died in an accident in California's Sierra Nevada.
Jake Whisenant, age 30, died on Aug. 3, according to the Tulare County Sheriff's Office Coroner Division.
Authorities haven't disclosed the circumstances of his death — but it was listed as an accident.
His death was announced by Bailee Moore, who described Whisenant as her "lifelong friend and confidant."
