Japanese drugmaker Takeda's Qdenga becomes first dengue vaccine approved in India

India's drug regulator has approved Takeda's Qdenga dengue vaccine, the first of its kind. This vaccine is expected to become available in India during the first half of 2027. Qdenga offers protection against all four dengue virus serotypes for individuals aged four to sixty. The vaccine demonstrated significant efficacy in late-stage trials, reducing cases and hospitalisations. Takeda is also partnering with Biological E to boost global manufacturing capacity for Qdenga.
