Woman develops life-threatening disorder after taking painkiller: A Raipur consumer commission has ordered a neurologist to pay Rs 5.5 lakh to a woman who developed Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, a rare and life-threatening skin disorder, after he prescribed a combination painkiller without checking her allergy history or warning her of potential adverse reactions. She was hospitalised for nearly two weeks and lost 40 days of income.
