India's ethanol mission sees state-run fuel firms spend Rs 1.72 lakh crore

Public Sector OMCs spent over Rs 48,000 crore on ethanol procurement in ESY 2023-24. They procured Rs 73,996 crore worth of ethanol during ESY 2024-25. As of July 2026, 501 ethanol manufacturing units were registered for supply. Uttar Pradesh led ethanol-blended petrol sales with 124.98 crore litres. The domestic procurement network supports the Ethanol Blended Petrol Programme nationwide.
