WB liquor retailers allege Rs 300 crore collected as unauthorised transport charges, seek probe

West Bengal liquor traders claim over Rs 300 crore was collected from them between 2022 and 2025. They allege these are unauthorized transportation charges. The state's distributor-depot system places this cost on distributors. Retailers are demanding an inquiry by the Excise Department into the matter. This system was introduced in 2021 to streamline liquor supply.
