5.9-magnitude earthquake strikes southern Japan: Reports

An earthquake hit Japan's Kagoshima Prefecture on Tuesday. The magnitude was estimated between 5.9 and 6.2. Parts of Amami in Kagoshima felt a strong tremor. No tsunami warning was issued. Japan's National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience confirmed the preliminary magnitude at 6.2.
