Jute industry seeks new Bengal govt's intervention to tide over raw material crisis

West Bengal’s jute industry is staring at a major crisis as raw jute shortages and soaring prices disrupt operations across mills in the Hooghly industrial belt. Around 14 mills have either suspended work or cut production, while nearly 75,000 workers face job losses or irregular employment, industry bodies said.
