Chelsea announce staggering £262.4million loss in latest accounts
April 2 – English Premier League side Chelsea revealed pre-tax losses of £262.4million during their latest financial release for the 2024/25 season – a new record for English domestic football.
The deficit surpasses the loss of £197.5million posted by Manchester City in 2011. Chelsea attributed the record loss to “increased operating costs.”
Revenue reached £490.9m, the second-highest on record for the London club and included part of the prize money from the inaugural 32-team Club World Cup which Chelsea won.
