The Cubs had a 4-1 lead to begin the eighth inning during Saturday’s game against the Cardinals and then everything went to shit. It’s not all on Pete Crow-Armstrong, but the center fielder made the biggest mistake that led to a 5-4 Cubs loss.
Absolutely unacceptable from PCA to come in and call off Nico Hoerner, who was camped under a pop up that would have ended the top of the eighth inning with the Cubs still ahead 4-2. Instead, Crow-Armstrong called off the Cubs second baseman and then failed to make the catch.
