Magnitude 5.7 earthquake hits eastern Solomon Islands

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 was recorded near the shores of the Solomon Islands archipelago Santa Cruz. This was reported on January 16 in the Australian State Geological Bureau.

According to the latest data, the epicenter was located 10 km from Vanikoro Island and lay at a depth of 50 km. There was no information about casualties and destruction, the threat was also not announced.

Earlier, on January 15, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 occurred in the center of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
