Olympic medalist in swimming Volkov died after a serious illness
Three-time Olympic medalist in swimming in the USSR national team Dmitry Volkov died at the age of 58 after a long illness. This was reported on January 16 by Olympic champion and journalist Elena Vaitsekhovskaya.
"This morning Dima Volkov died. I tried to call him many times in the last two weeks, but failed. I know, in the same way failed to friends - they were in touch with them," she wrote in her Telegram channel.
In 2024, Vaitsekhovskaya reported that Volkov was battling stomach cancer.
