A drive through the vast emptiness of the Raton-Clayton volcanic field, Colfax County, New Mexico, USA. We encountered one other vehicle on the 42 miles of SR 193 - a ranch pickup literally stopped in the middle of the road, straddling the center line, with its two occupants working just outside the truck. They seemed surprised to see us out there....
