National Conference faces internal strife in Jammu and Kashmir, MLAs swore to cleanse the party

Around 20 National Conference (NC) MLAs are seeking changes in the party structure and the removal of some office-bearers, triggering an internal crisis following Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent cabinet expansion. Senior MLA Abdul Majid Larmi said the party needs a “cleansing process” to remove people who have “hijacked” it, adding that the move is aimed at strengthening the organisation and is not a rebellion.
