Rs 30 per kg rice gets no takers in fair price shops, claims PMK chief Anbumani

Chennai's subsidized rice scheme at Rs 30 per kg has reportedly seen poor sales figures recently. PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss indicated that only 114.80 tonnes of rice have been sold in two weeks. He attributed this low reception to the quality of rice distributed through ration shops. Ramadoss urged the Tamil Nadu government to procure rice from private mills to improve quality.
