BJP wins four, SP two in UP MLC polls; counting continues in five seats

Polling for 11 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council seats resulted in the BJP winning four seats. The Samajwadi Party secured two seats amidst allegations of assault on an SP candidate in Agra. Counting was fraught with disputes, particularly in the Gorakhpur-Faizabad Teachers' constituency. The elections reflect a significant competition between the BJP and the SP ahead of the 2027 Assembly polls.
