India wastes 1.8 billion units of renewable power amid shortages and dwindling coal stocks: Report
In July and August, India faced significant curtailment of renewable electricity despite rising power demand. Nearly 1.8 billion units of electricity were turned away due to infrastructure challenges in absorption. Approximately 4.2% of total solar generation could not integrate into the grid during this period. Coal remains the primary electricity source, supplying two-thirds of total demand despite increases in renewable energy.
