A hidden magnetic force from the early universe may finally explain the Hubble tension and why cosmic expansion doesn’t add up

Recent research investigates the role of primordial magnetic fields in the discrepancy of the Hubble constant values. Measurements of the cosmic microwave background suggest an expansion rate close to 67 km/s/Mpc. In contrast, observations from nearby objects indicate a higher rate of about 73 km/s/Mpc. The findings propose that these magnetic fields may have influenced hydrogen formation early in the universe.
