Countries still way behind on UN biodiversity targets, research shows

Research indicates that governments may not meet the UN's 30 by 30 biodiversity conservation target by 2030. Despite some progress, only 20% of land and 10% of marine areas are currently protected. Significant funding shortfalls exist, especially in marine protection, which is far below necessary levels. A large gap exists between theoretical protection measures and their actual enforcement on the ground.
