TMC rebel MPs seek four more weeks for replying to Lok Sabha disqualification notices

Twenty rebel Lok Sabha MPs who defected from the TMC to the NCPI have requested a four-week extension to reply to anti-defection notices issued by Speaker Om Birla. NCPI chairperson Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar cited document collation delays following the expiration of an earlier extension. The TMC criticised the move, calling the defectors opportunistic, while the Supreme Court is already considering petitions from Abhishek Banerjee to expedite disqualification proceedings under the Tenth Schedule.
