J&K govt withdraws 6519 books, examines over 21 lakh books, MLA Langate demands details and who ordered the removal

Awami Itihaad Party MLA Sheikh Khursheed has questioned the removal of thousands of books from libraries of colleges and higher education institutions in Jammu and Kashmir, alleging that the government failed to provide details of the titles, authors and publishers. According to the government’s response, 21,81,582 books were examined, of which 518 banned books and 4,249 other books were withdrawn, while 1,752 were referred for expert examination.
