Bessent says US to shut down Iranian airlines with secondary sanctions

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Iranian airlines would face a shutdown from September 23 through the threat of secondary sanctions on foreign aviation service providers. He said providers could lose access to the US dollar system if they fuel, service or sell tickets for Iranian carriers, while Chinese financial officials have been engaged in discussions over compliance with US sanctions.
