NASA discovers Colosseum-sized Moon crater from once-in-132-year impact

Scientists found a large lunar crater from a recent impact event. This massive hole, larger than the Roman Colosseum, was initially undetected. NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter captured the formation in May 2024. The impact churned lunar soil, creating a cold spot around the crater.
