A 600-year-old Hawaiian fishpond on Kauaʻi was nearly sold for development before Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan committed $4 million to help preserve it. The Alakoko Fishpond, also known as the Menehune Fishpond, was purchased by the Trust for Public Land and transferred to Mālama Hulē'ia for conservation and restoration.
