Andhra Pradesh clears decks for new defence, warship building unit

Andhra Pradesh has approved a new defense and warship facility at Machilipatnam. Goa Shipyard Limited will invest ₹8,000 crore in this significant expansion project. This new facility will be the PSU's first venture outside its home base in Goa. Preparatory work begins next month, with trial production expected by January 2028. Commercial production for the first phase is slated to commence in May 2028.
