A small asteroid just crashed near Australia, and astronomers are thrilled about it

A small asteroid, CERNQ52, entered Earth's atmosphere over the Indian Ocean on September 6, burning up harmlessly as predicted by ESA and NASA. What excited astronomers wasn't the object itself but the speed of detection, spotted just hours before impact, marking only the 13th such early catch. Scientists also noted it may belong to a rare Aten-class asteroid orbit, adding further scientific interest to the otherwise harmless event.
