Psychology says people who run when a dog barks may be reacting before they even think
Someone who runs when a dog barks may simply be protecting themselves from a perceived threat. But if the reaction is automatic, intense and repeatedly occurs even when there is little actual danger, psychology suggests that learned fear, avoidance reinforcement and threat appraisal may be playing a much bigger role.
