Assam Police targets higher conviction rate, stronger crime control
Assam Police will strengthen crime control, investigation, forensic capabilities and prosecution following a two-day conference of senior Superintendents of Police chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The state’s police conviction rate has risen from 7% in 2021 to around 29%, with the government targeting 35%. Assam Police has also filed charge sheets in over 80% of cases.
