Near Yuma, an EPA report found 8 dry tons of biosolids per acre cut fertiliser needs to one-fourth in year 1; by year 3, no supplemental fertiliser was required

Research conducted in Yuma, Arizona, revealed that the use of biosolids can greatly reduce the need for chemical fertilizers. By applying biosolids to sandy soil, farmers rebuilt the soil's structure, leading to enhanced nutrient retention. After just three years, they found that no additional chemical fertilizers were necessary for crop cultivation. This sustainable method can also inspire home gardeners to improve soil health through compost and organic amendments.
